Signing in as the 12th largest broadcast signal in the United States, WIBW-AM originated on May 8, 1927. Today, WIBW-AM remains true to its original foundation of news, weather and sports. This heritage station has aided in the careers of Edmond Denney, Hilton Hodges, Bob Kearns, Bill Kirk, The Miccolis Sisters, Little Jimmy Dickens, Fred White, Mitch Holthus, Steve Phsysioc, Gary Bender and Bill Curtis. WIBW-AM is a 5,000 watt station with a strong news, weather and sports following.

Originally a classic country station, WIBW-FM began airing on Sept. 1, 1961. After a brief period with a rock format, WIBW-FM came back to its original country roots. Positioned as No. 1 in many key demographics, WIBW-FM sponsors the largest outside country music festival, The Country Stampede; the largest Kansas trade show, Buy Kansas Expo; and the most attended Bridal Fair. WIBW-FM is a 100,000 watt station with a strong female following.

In the early 1970s, the Kansas Agriculture Network and the Kansas Information Network began providing important news to affiliates throughout the state. Carrying pertinent agriculture reports to farmers, the Kansas Agriculture Network quickly established itself as the most respected and listened-to agriculture network in Kansas. The Kansas Information Network soon followed suit by bringing affiliates legislative reports, statewide news and weather. Today, both networks continue to deliver to their respective Kansas audiences. Keeping up with the times, the Networks also offer special programs, "News in a Minute," "High School Scoreboard Show," "Kansas Weekend," "Kansas Shrine Bowl" and Spanish newscasts.

Morris Communications acquired WIBW-AM, WIBW-FM, the Kansas Agriculture Network and the Kansas Information Network in 1995 with the purchase of Stauffer Communications.
