DAN O'SHEA RECEIVES NATIONAL HONOR
Augusta, Ga. - Dan O'Shea,
national creative director of Fairway Outdoor Advertising,
an Augusta-based division of Morris Communications Corp.,
has been inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame of the
Outdoor Advertising Association of America Inc. (OAAA).
OAAA President and CEO Nancy Fletcher was in Augusta Monday
to present O'Shea with the award. The Hall of Fame was established
in 1991 to recognize individuals for enduring contributions
to the outdoor advertising industry.
"Dan is a treasure from the creative side," Fletcher said.
"He has a wonderful vision for the business."
"I can't think of another individual who is more deserving
of this award than Danny O'Shea," said Will Morris, president
of Morris Communications.
The OAAA had planned to surprise O'Shea with the honor at
its annual meeting in New York City, which was to begin the
morning of Sept. 11, but both the meeting and O'Shea's induction
were postponed due to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade
Center.
Immediately following the attacks, O'Shea led an industry-wide
public service effort to post billboards proclaiming, "In
God We Trust. United We Stand." More than 1,600 of the patriotic
messages are now posted throughout the country.
The OAAA is the lead trade association for the outdoor advertising
industry, with more than 1,100 member companies.
Morris Communications is a privately held media company with
diversified holdings that, in addition to outdoor advertising,
