KIM BENEDICT NAMED PUBLISHER IN HILLSDALE

Augusta, Ga. - Kim Benedict has been named publisher of the Hillsdale Daily News, the Morris-owned daily newspaper in Hillsdale, Mich. The appointment, announced today by President Will Morris, is effective immediately. Benedict succeeds Jeff West, who resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Benedict had been publisher of The Arkansas City (Kan.) Traveler since 1989. Morris Communications sold the Traveler in August 2001.

Prior to her 12-year tenure as publisher, Benedict was advertising manager of the Hillsdale Daily News for three years. She began her newspaper career in advertising sales at another Morris daily, The Morning Sun, located in Pittsburg, Kan. Benedict has a total of 18 years' experience in the newspaper industry.

"We are delighted that Kim will be filling the position in Hillsdale for us. With her history of dedication and management expertise, I'm sure she will play a leading role in the community as well as for the newspaper," said President Morris.
