MORRIS TO PUBLISH NEW LAS VEGAS MONORAIL MAGAZINE

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The visitor publications division of Morris Communications Co. has been awarded exclusive publishing rights for Las Vegas Monorail Magazine, the official publication of the Las Vegas Monorail system. Morris currently publishes Best Read Las Vegas Guide and Nevada Hospitality magazine in the Las Vegas market.

The first issue of the biweekly monorail guidebook is scheduled for March, to coincide with the opening of the 4-mile monorail route in the first quarter of the year. The pocket-sized publication will include a fold-out map of the monorail route, profiles of hotels with monorail stops and listings of entertainment, dining, shopping and other attractions on or near the famed Las Vegas Strip.

The monorail connects eight major Las Vegas resorts with more than 24,000 hotels rooms, from the Sahara to the MGM Grand hotel-casinos on opposite ends of the Strip, with stops at the Las Vegas Hilton, Las Vegas Convention Center, Harrah's/Imperial Palace, the Flamingo and Paris/Bally's. Plans call for the monorail to eventually connect downtown Las Vegas and McCarran International Airport.

Advertisers in the new publication will reach a projected 19 million monorail passengers, or approximately 53,000 per day, in the first year of operation. The magazine will be distributed free at monorail substations, at kiosks in the resorts served by the monorail and inside all monorail cars.

"We are extremely pleased to join with the Las Vegas Monorail Company in this publishing partnership," said Morris Communications President William S. Morris IV. "We've been steadily building our market share and service reputation since we began our Las Vegas operation in 1998. This valuable contract recognizes our efforts in a highly competitive arena."

"The new monorail magazine is an ideal fit with our other Las Vegas publications," said Courtney L. Fuhrmann, publisher of the Morris publications in Las Vegas. "Our advertising clients will have exceptional opportunities to expand their reach and reinforce their messages with the varied audiences we serve."

Cam Walker, president and CEO of Transit Systems Management LLC, the company administering the monorail contracts, said, "It was clear to us that Morris Communications was the perfect choice for this publishing venture. They are well-established in the Las Vegas market and well-respected in the wider publishing industry. They bring us a great deal of depth and experience in visitor publications."

The privately funded $650 million Las Vegas Monorail is the most technologically advanced public transportation system in the world. The monorail system is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Monorail Company, a non-profit corporation whose board is appointed by Nevada's governor.
